About Pretty Cure (25)
Pretty Cure is an animated series from Japan. Currently, it is being
brought into America by 4kids Entertainment, though by all means,
it's probably going to be mutilated. Hence, PrettyCure.org! A website
dedicated to a very popular relationship in the series: Nagisa x
Honoka, which will likely be removed by 4kids Entertainment because
of America's homophobic cartoon industry.
Pretty Cure is the shortened name for the series, the actual name
is 'Futari wa Precure' or 'Futari wa Pretty Cure'. The full Japanese
name means "We are Pretty Cure". The show is a Magical
Girl anime, so it is primarily aimed at a young girl audience. The
main characters are Misumi Nagisa and Yukishiro Honoka, both students
at Verone Academy. The tale unfolds quickly in the first episode
to reveal that both Nagisa and Honoka are chosen to defend a world
known as the Garden of Light, and Earth, referred to as the Garden
of Rainbows, from the evil forces of the Dark Zone. Nagisa and Honoka
are forced into a sudden partnership against their will, and the
story goes from there.
The anime was produced by Toei Animation, and has built quite a
following in Japan, as well as a following from the Shoujo-Ai communities
in the US. Shoujo-Ai stands for girl love, and implies a more romantic
relationship between girls then just friendship. |
